Galatians 4:4 says:

"But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law."

This verse primarily refers to the timing of Jesus' first coming—His birth in Bethlehem. Paul highlights that Jesus came at the perfect moment in history, fulfilling God's plan for redemption. However, the concept of "Jesus is coming soon" refers to His second coming, which is a different event prophesied throughout Scripture.

Connection to "Jesus is coming soon"

  1. God’s Perfect Timing:

    • Just as Jesus came at the “fullness of time” during His first advent, His second coming will also occur at the exact moment determined by God (Matthew 24:36).

    • Galatians 4:4 reminds us that God works on a precise timeline, and the promise of His return will likewise be fulfilled.

  2. Living in Expectation:

    • The early church lived in the constant expectation of Christ's return, as reflected in verses like Revelation 22:20: "He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon.’"

    • Similarly, reflecting on God’s fulfilled promises in Galatians 4:4 gives confidence that the promise of His second coming will also be fulfilled.

  3. Signs of the Times:

    • While Galatians 4:4 does not directly address Jesus’ second coming, it underscores God's faithfulness in sending His Son when the world was ready. Jesus Himself spoke about recognising the signs of His return (Matthew 24:3-14).

How to Respond

  • Faith and Readiness: Just as people needed to be spiritually ready for Jesus’ first coming, we are called to live holy lives in readiness for His second coming (Matthew 24:44).

  • Trust in God's Sovereignty: Galatians 4:4 reminds us to trust in God’s perfect timing, whether in waiting for His return or in our daily lives.
